Job Description:
Join Nutter McClennen & Fish as a Senior Paralegal, Litigation working with attorneys on a variety of matters to provide eDiscovery, research, and litigation support through all phases of litigation. The Senior Paralegal reports directly to the Litigation Department Chair and supervises the junior paralegal and case assistant. The position is a non-exempt position located in the Boston office, offering the flexibility to work remotely two days a week. The position is ideal for a self-starter looking for a paralegal position offering challenging and interesting work and the ability to continue developing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and maintains a system to organize client files and documents in paper and electronic formats.
- Completes simple legal research in our law library, at law libraries outside of the firm, at governmental offices, and/or using the latest technology.
- Develops histories of events and/or actions.
- Completes reviews of certain legal documents and the filing of documents, as requested, at the appropriate agency and/or governmental offices.
- Participates in client meetings, telephone calls/conferences, and prepares written communications as directed by an attorney.
- Prepares client or firm documents as directed by an attorney to draft and/or edit.
- Oversees projects from beginning to end, including determining the process to follow and ensuring that all actions are taken for accurate and timely completion of each project.
- Maintains document databases using document review software (specifically Relativity) from the end-user perspective.
- Participates in ongoing in-house training; attends informational, professional and vendor events to understand litigation technology and service developments in the field.
- Performs social media collections using PageVault, X1 social media or an equivalent software package.
- Helps facilitate training sessions for attorneys on effectively utilizing paralegal support to increase the efficiency of case management.
- Supervises, trains, and mentors the junior paralegal and case assistant.
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelorβs degree preferred.
- 8-10 years of experience working as a litigation paralegal for a law firm required.
- 1+ years of eDiscovery/Litigation Support experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- A high degree of proficiency with technology such as Microsoft Office, Kofax Power PDF Advanced, iManage, and database management/administration systems.
- Experience with performing document reviews and providing case management and transcript management support using software such as Case Notebook, Relativity, or an equivalent software package.
- Trial support using software such as Trial Director or an equivalent software.
- Excellent grammar, spelling and proofing for content and context.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong communication skills, tact, and diplomacy, as well as the ability to interact positively and productively with all levels of the Firm.
- Ability to assume responsibility for assigned tasks, and if necessary, able to delegate workload in order to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrates organization, flexibility, and reliability to set priorities, as well as the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and works well under pressure.
- Detail-orientated and self-motivated.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team members as well as attorneys and staff throughout the firm.
- Adaptable to last minute changes and disruptions, and able to accommodate overtime work as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for most of their duties. There is the need to frequently walk including climbing stairs. There will be a moderate amount of standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and reaching for some of their job duties. Visual requirements include reading off of a computer screen as well as printed materials. A high degree of dexterity is required due to frequent use of a keyboard and telephone. Verbal and auditory requirements include the ability to communicate clearly over the telephone as well as in person. There is a low level of grasping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects of less than 25 lbs.
